Kristin + Tyler - Engagement Session on the Horseshoe

The UofSC Horseshoe is one of the most iconic places in Columbia. I feel like it’s one of those spaces that everyone feels at least some piece of ownership. It was either a place you met, studied, made mischief, or at the very least and in my case, walked through as quickly as possible since your classes could not have been further apart.

For many it’s a symbol for USC and is certainly the case for Kristin and Tyler. It’s always a treat roaming the gardens and down the brick walkway, especially when you’re working with such a great couple!

Abby + Ryan - Engagement Session at the South Carolina State House

Looking for an easy, beautiful, and generally stress free location for photos? Then we’ll see you at the State House :) I’ve always felt like the State House gets a bad rap with things like “well EVERYONE does their photos there”. True, the State House is popular, but for a reason. It’s diverse and the grounds are always maintained. Don’t like the building? No problem! It doesn’t even have to appear in photos and bonus, did I mention it’s free?

We had a great time running around the grounds with Abby and Ryan on another sunny Summer day!

Emma + Jennings- Engagement Session at the West Columbia Riverwalk

The West Columbia Riverwalk is always a beautiful spot. Long winding paths that curve along the river and under the Gervais Street Bridge make not only a great spot for photos, but a lovely place to be. What you may not know is that there is about a two week window right around late March when the Riverwalk reaches it’s peak in the beauty department. Planted along the wooden breezeway is one of my favorite plants, the lady banks rose. This particular rose bush has no thorns, it considered a rambler (not a bush, but not exactly a climber either) and blooms only once every year. Although the blooming season is short, it really knows how to make a show. The beautiful plant bursts with yellow puffs of frills and the sweetest scent making the breezeway even more magical. We were thrilled when Emma and Jennings scheduled their session here and I probably talked too much about the roses, but there you have it. If you’re in Columbia in March, make sure you take a minute to stop and smell the roses :)
